Partnership with World Bank

The World Bank's Tokyo Development Learning Center(TDLC)promotes a City Partnership Program(CPP)that shares the expertise and technology of Japan's municipal governments regarding urban development with developing countries. Yokohama's Y-PORT Project has been recognized by the World Bank,an international aid institution aiming to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity around the globe,and this partnership has deepened through the CPP since November 2016。

Documentation of Yokohama's urban development knowledge and expertise(Yokohama Sourcebook)
The World Bank investigated and documented Yokohama's urban development knowledge and expertise in the form of a report. In addition to being shared within the bank, this report was published on the websites of the City of Yokohama and the World Bank. It was also introduced at a workshop in the Philippines'Cebu City in October 2018。

Technical Deep Dive (TDD) cooperation

Technical Deep Dive (TDD) is a World Bank program consisting of workshops, on-site tours and other activities for representatives of developing countries and cities, World Bank employees and other experts, aimed at promoting development of projects funded by the bank. Through this program, Yokohama has introduced its efforts including public transportation-oriented urban development, integrated water management, city redevelopment, public property management and others.

Asia Smart City Conference partnership

In partnership with the Asia Smart City Conference, which Yokohama hosts, the World Bank hosted the World Bank Smart Cities Conference 2016 and the World Bank/Asian Development Bank Smart Cities Development Conference 2017. In 2018, the TDLC participated in the 7th Asia Smart City Conference held through this close partnership as a co-organizer.

Employee dispatch to developing countries for knowledge-sharing

Knowledge-Sharing Project in Da Nang, Vietnam

In August 2017,as part of the World Bank and Yokohama's support for Vietnam's Sustainable City Development Project(SCDP),urban planning and development experts were dispatched to Vietnam's Ministry of Construction and the city of Da Nang for technical cooperation aimed at promoting urban development management theory and public transportation-oriented urban development(TOD).

Knowledge-Sharing Project in Romania (Constanta, Bucharest, Brasov)

In July 2018,the World Bank and Yokohama dispatched urban design experts to cities including Yokohama's sister city Constanta in Romania for technical cooperation related to waterfront development and urban design.
